There are instances in which you will need to file a claim.
* A car accident
* Your car has been vandalized
* Your car has been stolen
* If there is any non-accident related event, like hail or other crazy weather
The first step in filing a claim is contacting your insurance company. Be sure to have your policy number, start and end date of your policy, all the details pertaining to the accident, and if other drivers are involved have their information available. If you are reporting a claim on a car accident be sure to get pictures of the cars involved as well as getting the contact information for any witnesses on the scene. You will need to file a claim with the other person’s insurance, so be sure to have their insurance company’s number and their policy number. After, as always, you should seek legal counsel. If you do not feel comfortable filing the claim on your own, talk to your attorney and see what they recommend or if they will do it themselves.
