Another step in a trial is the jury deliberation which leads to a verdict. The jury gets their instructions from the judge after the attorneys finish their closing statements. The bailiff then leads the jury to a separate room. Here the jury begins deliberating. A foreperson is elected from the jury members by the jury members, their job is to make sure the discussion is running smoothly and they are the ones that deliver the verdict when they are called back into the court. The jury members talk about the evidence and testimonys presented to them throughout the trial and then have to determine if they find the defendant guilty or not guilty and if anything will be awarded. After a decision is made the jury is lead back into the court room and the judge asks for the jury to read out the verdict.
