The police report is a very critical to a case. If you are involved in a car accident be sure to contact your local police department and get an officer out to the scene of the accident. They will then begin filling out a report. Make sure that the report is not just one sided and that all parties get a chance to explain their side of the situation. If there are any witnesses be sure to get them noted in the police report. Maintain a copy of the police records and give it to your attorney as soon as possible. The police report helps the attorney’s know what happened the day of the accident, in case something is remembered incorrectly or needs clarification.
